Speedy Bookkeepers LLC.

When I first started this blog I couldn’t quite figure out what to type in here. After a while I decided to give a daily (hopefully daily) real-life illustration on how important it is to a business’s bottom line it can be to have a good IT provider working with them on an ongoing basis.

Let’s begin. I think the best format would be to set up an imaginary office complete with employees, a boss/manager, a product, goals and deadlines, and let’s say about 8 employees of various technical knowledge. Let’s call our company Speedy Bookkeepers LLC. They are obviously a bookkeeping firm.

The boss’s name is David. He is pretty good with numbers, Quickbooks and Excel spreadsheets. He doesn't have much of a clue beyond that as far as computers go. Everyone seems to like him as much as the average employees like their boss and he sets a good example for the office. He usually comes in before anyone else arrives and is usually the last to leave.

Sandy is the receptionist and computer go-to gal. More on each employee as this blog continues. Other employees are:

Mike – bookkeeper
June-bookkeeper
Alice-bookkeeper
Frank-CPA
Judy-Sales and account rep
Tom-bookkeeper

David had to let a few people go in 2009 and he hated having to do that. The economy has been hitting them hard as it has most of us. He really doesn't want to loose anymore people because it will mean having to go throught the painful and expensive process of rehiring people back when things improve. Keeping that in mind, we can now assume that David has got his eyes and ears wide open for any sort of waste or office ineffiecencies. He has instructed all his employees to do the same.

Over the next few weeks, I will show that this is a pretty typical office as far as techical problems go. I won't be getting involved in who is hot for who but let's just assume it's a pretty typical office. I will also associate real numeric values to inefficiencies and savings. Let's see what David finds.

I will be using real life examples of things I come across in the various office I get to work with to show what kinds of things can be done to improve the bottem line...stay tuned.
