Abacus News
As the economic news seems to be slow but a little more steady, Abacus Technical Solutions continues to move in a positive direction. With an eye on growth in the small business market, I have begun to plan a direct mail campaign to attract other small businesses in the area who want to take their technology needs more seriously.
I have done a lot of research and training this year and can now offer even more services then before. In addition to full-time monitoring, 7 x 24 help desk, antivirus, automated remediation, patching and more, I can now offer offsite spam filtering and web protection services at a very reasonable price.
Spam filter as you may have guessed is a new way to filter out all those annoying spam messages before they arrive at your inbox saving you time and money from cleaning them all out. Web protection is another service that I can employ that will automatically block phishing sites, adult sites and just about anything we can think of. This enables us to better manage what content enters your place of business while protecting users from accidentally running bad web scripts if they should visit some of these sites.
Another service I now offer is onsite and offsite Disaster Recovery. Ask me about the benefits of a good disaster recovery plan at your convenience. When you'll eventually need it, you’ll be so glad you had it.
Tech-Tip
If you ever have trouble closing a program and you’re running either Windows XP or Windows Vista, you can press the control-alt-delete keys and select “Task Manager.” Once open, the task manager has several tabs that can be selected. Select the tab called “Applications.” In the resulting window, you will see a list of all running applications along with their status. If their status is “Not Responding,” select the application by clicking it once and then clicking on the “End Task” button below. It may take a minute or two and you may need to click on some resulting “End Task” buttons but this should shut down the offending program.
While you’re in the task manager, click on the performance tab and note how much physical memory you currently have. If it is less than 1GB (1000 MB), contact me and ask about the benefits of more memory.
Referrals
If you currently have a contract with me, don’t forget that I am interested in growing my business and always appreciate a good referral. If you can get me a referral that results in a signed agreement-no matter how big or small-I will credit your account for 1 month of contract services!
